Geezer Ride V2: Update

There will be one B Level Maintenance Road on the Geezer Ride and it won't look this nice!
Geezer Ride V2: Update

Okay folks, here are the final details on this weekend's Geezer Ride v2. It will start at 8:30am sharp in front of Bikes To You in Grinnell, Iowa. That's on Broad Street, ya'all, just South of Highway 6.

The mileage will total out to be about 46, but it will be an easy paced ride and we will take it slowly. Here is how I see things going down on Saturday and some tips for visitors to Grinnell.

Parking: I am going to ask that no one parks right along Broad Street in front of the bike shop or adjoining cafe', please. Those businesses and others on Broad Street rely on that parking for customers, and having your vehicles parked there all day Saturday will be a big problem. So, please park around the City park a block further to the South on 3rd, or on the other side on Park Street if you would. Thanks!

Attendance: If you think about it, please leave a comment here so I can get an idea of who to expect to show up. The last Geezer Ride we had about a dozen riders, and I feel that this one will be seeing more riders. I already know that upwards of ten folks are saying they are coming and I'm betting more than that are thinking about it. It would help me if I know since I may have to break the crowd up into two herds if we are going to have a larger group. This would make things more manageable from a "no rider left behind" perspective. Thanks!

Weather: Right now they are saying 60's, partly cloudy, and breezy winds from the Southwest. That means you'll need a windbreaker, maybe some arm warmers, and tights would be recommended for those who are cold blooded. I'd wear gloves, which can be stowed if you get too hot, but you'll want 'em if you don't bring 'em, so bring 'em! Everyone needs a helmet and I highly suggest eyewear.

Logistical Matters: First of all, this is a free, no support ride. You Are Responsible For You. There is NO SAG. There is not going to be any organized back up for this ride. Make sure that you remember to bring everything you need to fix a flat tire. Remember to bring your own water for about a 5 hour ride. Remember to bring money to spend at the convenience store in Brooklyn, Iowa. Remember to bring a cell phone and a camera. It's all up to you to come prepared. Plan on riding until about 2:00pm. It's an adventure folks. Anything could happen out there........

Any questions? Hit me with them in the comments section. Thanks! See ya Saturday!

I live over in a mitten shaped place, so will not be attending any time soon, but would like to commend you for such great instructions!

I'm taking notes, as we have Geezers here as well!

Ride on!

What condition have the rain and storms this week left the roads in?

@Katherine Roccasecca : With a day of Sun and wind (today), I would surmise that they will dry up pretty well. The roads where we will be riding typically dry up nicely after rains as long as there is Sun and wind. The B Level road however..... :>)

Due to other factors, the Roccaseccas won't be there. :-(
