Or worse, they're cost-saving measures that are presented as improvements.

My retro-tastic list would include BRASS nipples and conventional J-bend spokes, frame pumps and pump pegs, and fender mounts. Nice to see a few manufacturers incorporating hidden fender mounts on their "gran fondo" bikes.Denny Yunkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14563107589880106827noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12831567.post-25152835544796179242012-08-31T19:40:55.960-05:002012-08-31T19:40:55.960-05:00Count 1 vote for through axle on hardtails ,, only...Count 1 vote for through axle on hardtails ,, only because they do slip due to cheap or ultra light skewers. His take was it posed no significant benefit and had been developed to stiffen full suspension designs. A lot of Chromag hardtails get ridden super hard so if there was any benefit I'm sure they'd use it.

Surface is also some sweet modern steel!

I like the idea of a nice cartridge BB but I am more worried about the tapers holding and the stiffness of the axle. At least with the modern oversize-axle designs the bearings are easily serviced or replaced.

Regards,
Anthony
1234567890https://www.blogger.com/profile/07066624997554342571noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12831567.post-78325897848563543912012-08-31T08:22:01.530-05:002012-08-31T08:22:01.530-05:00here here for square taper!
