I love their whistle and it is my favorite bird call. They have a lot of grey/white mottling/pattern on their back. This bird did not. It was solid colors all the way, and bigger than a Meadowlark. Furthermore, I heard this strange birds whistle and while a Meadowlark may have a different call than what I am used to hearing, the two were distinctly different. I see them all the time in northern Colorado and their range extends to Iowa.Salmonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04458946656116335536noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12831567.post-4295596208143063802019-08-27T11:41:07.580-05:002019-08-27T11:41:07.580-05:00@DT- No, I am pretty sure it isn't a finch. They are a much smaller bird than what we saw.Guitar Tedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10960580677548417562noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12831567.post-86602699756232781772019-08-27T11:20:45.802-05:002019-08-27T11:20:45.802-05:00Could it have possibly been an American Goldfinch?...Could it have possibly been an American Goldfinch? That is the only bird I can think of that matches your description and range.
