In stage races, an all-rounder is likely to place well in the General classification. Eddy Merckx and Miguel Indurain were notable all-rounders; Ivan Basso, Samuel Sánchez, Cadel Evans, Bradley Wiggins, and Alberto Contador are more contemporary examples. All-rounders are usually Team Leaders in both stage races and classics cycle races. The term all-rounder is also applied to a bicycle designed to function well for varied terrain and uses, unlike the typical bike today which is specifically designed for a narrow range of use and terrain.youcancallmeAlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02578252140097961816noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12831567.post-40702384919107481882013-09-28T12:16:09.590-05:002013-09-28T12:16:09.590-05:00That geometry is almost exactly the same as that f...That geometry is almost exactly the same as that for my old 1992 kona explosif except for a 1/2 inch difference in BB height which I actually prefer.youcancallmeAlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02578252140097961816noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12831567.post-23758927308221556522013-09-27T23:37:46.224-05:002013-09-27T23:37:46.224-05:00These should be the "normal" road bikes....These should be the "normal" road bikes.
The "special" bikes are the road racers, the cyclocross, the time trial. I'm not in the industry, but I do look around to see what other people are riding and "average cyclists" seem to be riding mostly hybrids (like the Trek FX series and similar).

I also think "gravel bike" is an adequate name even if it is a little too specific, but I don't really care too much either way. Putting ordinary folks on a road racing bike is just plain silly. The ski industry used to do the same thing marketing race skis and I'm sure many folks suffered for it. They have since learned and "all-mountain" skis are probably the most popular category. In my case, I am particularly interested in your "gravel mutt" concept as a way of recycling the many perfectly adequate frames sitting in garages everywhere.youcancallmeAlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02578252140097961816noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12831567.post-12111829850018445062013-09-27T10:54:42.259-05:002013-09-27T10:54:42.259-05:00I like your take on these ride-anywhere bikes and ...I like your take on these ride-anywhere bikes and their names.
