Back when rims were still pretty wide, so they worked well, actually. In fact, I still am using those.

Since the canti posts are set so wide on the stays, I think a wider rim would be a distinct possibility. That said, these Cliffhangars are so tough, and the Extraterrestrials so comfy at 20psi, I see no reason to switch out for my needs. Curious if you had any issues with your cant brakes on the wide rims. Is it just a matter of playing with the washers behind the pads to get the right clearance? Is there any chance you could have gone even wider on the rims -- something like a trials rim in the 44mm range?

Many thanks,
EricEric O.https://www.blogger.com/profile/06445003033230894752noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12831567.post-79176430910640578862017-12-17T07:47:45.135-05:002017-12-17T07:47:45.135-05:00@John- I have Planet Bike Cascadia fenders on this...@John- I have Planet Bike Cascadia fenders on this bike. When I asked, I was thinking they were the 2.35" version, but now that I think of it, maybe they're the 2.1". If I have the 2.1" set in there, I'm sure you're right...gotta check.Michael Lembergerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17749139439039241349noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12831567.post-4440878309810130222015-11-23T13:32:30.472-05:002015-11-23T13:32:30.472-05:00@Nick Templeton: I think it would work. It's an older one though- with roller cam brakes front and rear. On mine, the answer is a definite NO WAY! These tires are far too fat for that old bike, but a newer High Sierra? I cannot say. Keep in mind my tires are 61mm wide....so far....and that may help you determine what may fit your High Sierra.
